Pune: Court Extends Custody of Nasrapur Rape-Murder Accused Till May 13
Pune, 7th May 2026: A local court in Pune on Thursday remanded 65-year-old Bhimrao Kamble, arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a three-year-old girl in Nasrapur village, to police custody till May 13.
Kamble was produced before the court through video conferencing after the end of his earlier remand granted following his arrest on May 2. Police said the accused was not brought physically to the court due to concerns over public outrage and the possibility of an attack.
The case has triggered widespread anger across the state, with demands for strict punishment against the accused.
As part of the investigation, Pune Rural Police had taken Kamble to the crime scene around 3.30 am on Wednesday to recreate the sequence of events. Officials said the exercise was carried out in the early hours to avoid public gathering and ensure security.
Police officials said the investigation team has gathered crucial technical and forensic evidence in the case and is working to strengthen the prosecution. They added that efforts are being made to file the chargesheet within the next two weeks so that the trial can proceed on priority.
