Pune, 7th May 2026: The flyover being constructed at Rakshak Chowk in Pimple Nilakh is in its final stage and is expected to make travel from Aundh to Sangvi Phata and further from Ravet to Kiwale signal-free in the coming days, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation standing committee chairman Abhishek Barne said on Wednesday.

Barne during site visit reviewed the progress of the project along with officials. A meeting regarding the project was also held to discuss the current status and future planning of the flyover work.

Officials said Rakshak Chowk is one of the key traffic junctions in the city and efforts are being made to complete the work on a war footing to ease congestion in the area. Discussions were also held on the traffic management plan for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor connected to the flyover.

During the review, officials stressed prioritising passenger safety and directed the administration to ensure proper planning for bus movement. Instructions were also issued to carry out an immediate safety audit of the flyover railings and the overall structure before it is opened for public use.

The flyover is expected to significantly reduce travel time and fuel consumption for commuters while improving traffic flow on the Sangvi-Kiwale BRT route. Civic officials said emphasis is being placed on completing the project within the stipulated time and maintaining quality standards.

Corporators Aarti Chondhe and Sneha Kalate, PCMC chief engineer Pramod Ombhase, former BJYM city president Sanket Chondhe, BJYM general secretary Prasad Kaspatte, Sunny Barne and officials from various departments were present during the inspection.
