Pune: Covid-19 Vaccine Doses To Be Given To 75 Health Workers

Pune, January 2, 2021: After getting emergency approval from the authority, Pune is set to hold a trial round for COVID19 vaccine Covishield. The trial dose will be given to 75 health workers from 3 health centres in the district.

The permission was approved by a Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) late on Friday (1st January), after which all state governments and union territories have prepared for this big day, which will be a trial before the actual vaccination drive begins in India. The mega COVID-19 vaccine dry run to be held today (January 2) will test the operational feasibility of the vaccination programme.

The trial run will be held at three centres in Pune district, which includes district hospital Aundh, Jijamata hospital in PCMC and Maangaon primary health centre. The vaccine dose will be given to  25 pre-registered health workers in each centre. The primary health check-up was done at 9 am. Their names will be registered on an app, interviews will be taken after the test. To observe the difficulties and time span for the entire procedure, 5 health officers will be present at each centre from the health dept, said Dr Dilip Patil, state vaccination officer.
