Pimpri, January 2, 2021: The central storage department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had procured nursery school equipment worth Rs 1.86 crore during the lockdown. Moreover, there are no traces of those equipment, which create doubts about the buying process.

The education department of PCMC demanded tables and chairs for Balwadi students last year. According to their demand, the storage department bought 3000 table and chairs worth Rs 1.86 crore. The work order was given to Nilkamal company.

The officials blamed each other about where exactly the equipment was kept.

Now the question arises that the schools are yet to open, then what was the need to buy those equipment during the lockdown? Also if those are not given to the school and not kept in godown then, where those tables and chairs are being kept?

Previously the PCMC had bought iron benches worth Rs 72 lakhs. Those benches were kept in Nehrunagar godown for 9 months.

The deputy commissioner of storage dept. Mangesh Chitale said,” We have bought the equipment as per the demand from the education department. They will be handed over to school once they are re-open.”
