Ten per cent of the patients in the state are in Pune city. 100 patients were reported with the municipality 27 days after the first corona patient was found. It took Pune 50 days to reach the first thousand patients on April 28. However, another 4,000 patients were detected in the next 27 days by May 25. Most of these patients are from densely populated areas of the city.

The causes of Corona patients is being attributed to the outbreak of Coronavirus in densely populated areas, check-up of everyone who came in contact with COVID19 positive patient, increased system of screening and testing, increased rate of laboratory tests, emphasis on early diagnosis, swab test of everyone with symptoms and increased number of government and private laboratories.
