Pune: Crime Branch anti-narcotics cell seizes 65 grams MD drug in Baner

Pune, 12 July 2020: The sleuths from anti-narcotics cell (east region) of Crime Branch, Pune City police, have seized 65 grams Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 3.3 lakhs from two smugglers in Baner.
The arrested persons have been identified as Vivek Tulshiram Lulla (43) and Hema Kisanlal Singh (30), both residents of Navi Mumbai. An FIR has been registered against them with Chatushrungi police station for offences under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
According to police, the duo was arrested after information was received about the drug pedalling. They were caught near the National Insurance Academy (NIA) campus in Baner today. Police seized 55.45 grams MD drugs worth Rs 2.77 lakhs from Lulla and 10 grams drugs worth Rs 50,000 from Hema. Police have also seized their phones.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh said, “This is the third case of MD seizure recently, earlier 68 gms MD was seized in two different cases. Further investigation is going on to find various linkages. Action against narcotics will continue by the Crime Branch.”
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP Bachchan Singh, ACP Shivaji Pawar supervised the investigation team which included Police Inspector Vijay Tikole, Assistant Police Inspector Bapu Raikar and police personnel Praveen Shirke, Arjun Divekar, Rahul Joshi, Shivaji Rahigude, Praful Sable, Hema Dhebe, Ramchandra Yadav, Vishal Shinde, Sachin Chandan, Amit Chhadidar and Yogesh Mohite.
