Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Accused Wanted For The Last 27 Years

Pune, January 12, 2021: A 50-year-old man has been arrested 27 years after he had kidnapped a woman in 1993. The FIR is registered against him with Kothrud police station. He was also declared a proclaimed offender by the court.
The accused has been identified as Ramji Sewalal Kanojiya alias Dhobi, who hails from Tilora in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. At the time of the crime, he lived in Kishkindhanagar slum in Kothrud. He currently resided in Kandivali (west) in Mumbai and worked as a security guard.
He was arrested based on a tip-off received by Police Naik Dhananjay Tajne and Police Naik Maggi Jadhav of the Crime Branch’s Anti-Dacoity and Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad 1. A team went to Mumbai and arrested him. He has been handed over to Kothrud police station for further investigation.
The action was taken was under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh and ACP (Crime 1) Surendra Deshmukh. The team included Police Inspector Shilpa Chavan, Assistant Police Inspector Zubair Mohammad, ASI Shahid Shaikh, Head Constable Rahul Nigde, Police Naik Dhananjay Tajne, Maggi Jadhav and Ganesh Patole.
