Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Boy Who Looted Techie After Meeting on Gay Dating App

Pune, September 1, 2020: In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy was arrested by Pune Crime Branch on Tuesday for allegedly robbing, thrashing and beating the victim whom he met on a gay dating app.

 

According to the police, the victim matched with a person, who asked him for his contact information and called him to meet at Chavan Baugh, Dhayari road. After which, the accused took him to a room where suddenly three people aged 22 to 25 barged in, kicked, punched and thrashed the 34-year-old victim, a married software engineer. At knifepoint, the accused and his accomplices snatched his gold rings, silver, bracelet, asked him to transfer money through google pay and withdrew money through ATM as well, total sum up to Rs 61,000. The incident took place on August 9.

 

However, fearing that the accused persons may share his video on social media, the victim did not approach police. After being encouraged by a friend, he lodged an FIR against the accused persons a few days ago.

 

Yesterday, Police Naik Sanjay Jadhav received a tip-off following which a trap was laid under the guidance of Sub Inspector Hanumant Shinde at Indiranagar Bus depot tea stall where the accused Jitin Pawar, resident of Manjri was arrested.

 

During questioning, Pawar confessed of being the mastermind behind the crime and explained how the robbery took place with the help of his three accomplices. The further investigation will be done by Sinhagad Road Police station.

 

The action was taken under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh and ACP Shivaji Pawar, by a team comprising Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap, Sub Inspector Sanjay Gaikwad, Sub Inspector Hanumant Shinde, Police Naik Sachin Jadhav, Shrikant Waghawle, Prashant Gaikwad and Constable Sanjay Barakde, Irfan Momin, Baba Chavan.
