Pune: Crime Branch Launches Crackdown, Takes Preventive Action Taken Against 3,700 Criminals
Pune, 3rd February 2023: In the wake of rising crime, Pune Police’s Crime Branch has launched a crackdown against shortlisted criminals. Accordingly, preventive action has been taken against more than 3,700 criminals on record in the last few days. While the combing operation is in full swing, action is being taken through a special drive to curb the shortlisted criminals. The crime branch prepared a dossier of 11,000 criminals. According to the order of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, preventive action has been sped up.
Data on action against criminals was collected to maintain law and order. According to this, a list of 11,000 criminals involved in crimes, various gangs, and bullies was made under various police stations.
Under the guidance of Joint Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner (crime) Ramnath Pokle, and Deputy Commissioner (Crime) Amol Zende, emphasis has been placed on taking preventive action against criminals based on the information collected from various teams of the crime branch.
In the last few days, more than 3,700 criminals, their locations, and movements have been monitored, and preventive action has been taken. Apart from that, 65 criminals from nine criminal gangs have been arrested under MCOCA.
An all-out, combing operation is being carried out against the bullies, including criminals on record. Their movements are being monitored by implementing criminal checking and rehabilitation schemes. From time to time drives are being conducted by the Crime Branch for effective preventive action against gang members.
Apart from that, action is being taken against the criminals under MPDA to curb the harmful activities of Maharashtra slum lords, drug peddlers, and dangerous persons.
