Pune Crime Branch Nabs Fake Cop Who ‘Robbed’ People In Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Viman Nagar
Pune, 24th November 2022: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 4 of Pune city police have arrested a thug who was duping citizens at night in Yerwada, Kalyani Nagar, Koregaon Park, and Viman Nagar areas. He pretended to be a policeman by wearing a khaki uniform.
The arrested person has been identified as Pramod Balu Dhere (30), a resident of Lakshminagar, Yerwada. An FIR was registered against him at Yerwada police station in this regard.
Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Ganesh Mane nabbed Dhere while he was waiting in a car (with POLICE written in bold letters) near Irani Market in Yerwada. Police also recovered a stick and whistle from the car.
According to officials, Dhere has passed class 12 and is unemployed. He used to visit police stations and courts without any reason. He learned the working methods of the police, their behavior, and living conditions.
The investigation has revealed that he is deceiving the citizens by pretending to be a policeman. He has now been handed over to the Yerwada police station for further investigation.
The action was taken under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende, ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar, and Police Inspector Ganesh Mane. The team included ASI Mahendra Pawar and police personnel Nagesh Singh Kunwar, Ramesh Rathod, and Manoj Sangle.
