Pune, 25th August 2026: A social media user has claimed that he found a worm in food purchased from a PAUL bakery outlet at Phoenix Mall in Viman Nagar, and shared a video of the alleged incident on X.

The user, Vinod Tilekar, claimed the incident occurred a couple of months ago when he ordered takeaway food from the outlet. He said he took the parcel home and later found a worm in the food.

“This Paul bakery products are pathetic,” he wrote on X, alleging that he had found a worm in the food. He also tagged the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the local civic authorities, seeking action over food safety and hygiene standards.

The video posted by him purportedly shows a worm in the food. However, the post did not specify the food item involved or the exact date of the alleged incident. The claim could not be independently verified.

The allegation comes days after a similar incident was reported at a PAUL restaurant in Gurugram, where a customer claimed to have found a live white worm inside a sandwich.

The Gurugram incident was reported on August 23 at the PAUL outlet at One Horizon Centre on Golf Course Road. Customer Sulabh Mathur said he was having breakfast with friends when he noticed the worm after eating about half of his sandwich. He recorded the incident and shared the video on Instagram.

Mathur described the incident as “A truly shocking incident” and questioned the restaurant’s hygiene standards. The restaurant management later apologised to him, and Mathur shared a screenshot of the apology on social media.

A senior officer of the Haryana food and supplies department later told reporters that no complaint had been received in connection with the Gurugram incident, though the department was looking into the matter.
