Pune: Cyber Thug Pretends To Be Army Officer To Dupe Man On OLX

Pune, 13th September 2022: A case has been registered by Sahakarnagar police station against an unknown mobile phone owner who pretended to be in the Indian Army and wanted to sell his car.

Reportedly, the accused published an advertisement on the OLX application. It has come to light that the accused cheated by extorting Rs 42,000 by claiming to sell his car as he was deployed in Punjab.

 

Mangesh Vithoba Chavan (52), a resident of Saraswati Apartment, Kalanagar, Dhankawadi, Pune has filed a complaint in this regard.

 

According to the information given by the police, Mangesh Chavan called the number mentioned in an advertisement for the sale of a car on OLX. The other person on the phone stated that he wanted to sell the car as he was in the army and now transferred to Punjab.

 

After the conversation between the two, the concerned mobile holder also sent photos of the car to the complainant. After that, the complainant sent him Rs 42,996.

But, as the complainant did not get any kind of vehicle, he tried to contact the accused concerned but to no avail, Chavan finally rushed to Sahkarnagar Police Station and filed a complaint against the accused under various sections of the Information Technology Act.
