Pune: Cyclothon And Walkathon Organized To Commemorate 259th Anniversary Of Army Medical Corps

Pune, 20th March 2023: Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune had organized a Cyclothon cum Walkathon on 19 March as a part of the ongoing celebrations to commemorate the 259th Anniversary (Raising Day) of the Army Medical Corps.

The Army Medical Corps celebrates its raising day every year on 03rd April. The event was flagged off by Lt Gen Manjit Kumar, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Southern Command and Colonel Commandant, Corps of Signals.

The event was attended by Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, SM, VSM, Director & Commandant, AFMC, Maj Gen BK Goel, VSM, Commandant, Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune, Maj Gen D Vivekanand, Dean, AFMC and Commandants of other Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) units in Pune Khadki complex. Senior serving and retired dignitaries of the AFMS were present on the occasion.

Over 1000 serving officers, veterans, their families, medical and nursing cadets actively participated in the event. Lt Gen Narendra Kotwal, SM, VSM, Director & Commandant, AFMC lead by personal example by participating in the Cyclothon and reiterated the benefits of physical fitness and exercise in everyone’s daily life.
