Pune: Dams gets enough water in two days of rain to supply water for 15 days

Pune, June 5, 2020: As a result of cyclone Nisarga, heavy rains lashed the city as well as the catchment areas of the dams for the second day in a row yesterday. Due to heavy rains in the catchment areas, the city has enough water for 15 days, the Water Resources Department said on Thursday.

Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet and Khadakwasla dams, which supply water to the Pune city, have been receiving heavy rains for the last three days. Heavy rains lashed the catchment area of ​​the dam throughout the day on Thursday after the last two days. Till 8 am on Thursday, there was 245 mm of rainfall in Temghar dam area, 135 mm in Varasgaon dam area and 137 mm in Panshet dam area. And 77 mm in Khadakwasla dam area.

And then throughout the day, there was 30 mm rainfall in Temghar dam area, 18 mm in Varasgaon dam area, 19 mm in Panshet dam area and 27 mm Khadakwasla in the dam area. On Wednesday, from 8 am to 5 pm, there was 103 mm of rainfall in the Temghar dam area, 10 mm in Khadakwasla dam area while Varasgaon and Panshet dam areas received more than 50 mm of rainfall each.
