Pune, June 4, 2020: Due to Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, social distancing is being maintained in government offices. Accordingly, Pune City Police is going to launch a video chat facility for people instead of them visiting senior police officers for their grievance redressal.

First, a pilot project will be launched for the daily evening hearings at the commissioner’s office. Later it will be implemented at a few police stations and other offices and based on the experience, a decision will be taken about its future. People will have to take prior appointment online and they will be given a link and time slot for the video chat, informed Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham today.

Police officials said that at present all police chowky are closed and people have to visit the police stations for lodging any complaint. Earlier, if people were not satisfied with the services at chowky or police station, they used to visit senior police officers like ACP, DCP, Additional CP without an appointment around 4 pm. Many people visit the Police Commissioner’s office to speak to the top cop if their issues were not resolved by lower rank officers. Now all these meetings will happen online soon.
