Pune: Death Toll in Talwade Candle Factory Fire Rises to 14

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 17th December 2023: A devastating fire engulfed the Sparkle Candle factory in Talwade, leading to the tragic demise of six women workers on the spot. The injured survivors were rushed to Pune’s Sassoon Hospital for treatment, where Usha Padvi (40), succumbed to her injuries this morning.

 

With Usha Padvi’s demise, the death toll in this horrifying incident has now reached 14. Among the seriously injured, Sharad Sutar, owner of Shivraj Enterprises Company, has been discharged from the hospital and taken into police custody. The factory was responsible for the production of sparkle candles.

 

The victims admitted to Sassoon Hospital included Pratiksha Torane, Kavita Rathore, Shilpa Rathore, Priyanka Yadav, Eksha Torane, Kamal Chaure, Suman Godde, and Usha Padvi, who sadly lost her life during treatment.

 

Renuka Tathod, another injured survivor, has been discharged from Sassoon Hospital upon the request of her relatives. She has been taken to Amravati for further medical treatment. Meanwhile, Sharad Sutar, against whom a case has been registered in connection with the incident, has also been released from Sassoon Hospital and is now in police custody.
