Pimpri, 22nd July 2023: Chinchwad police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder case of a 70-year-old man, Ranjit Mela Singh, whose body was found dumped in Pune’s Tamhini Ghat. The motive behind the killing was traced to an escalating dispute over a loan of Rs 30 lakh borrowed by the prime suspect, Narayan Ingle, a retired manager of Punjab Sindh Bank.

According to the police investigation, Ranjit Mela Singh had lent three lakh rupees to Narayan Ingle, who was adamant about not returning the money. Frustrated with the constant demands from Singh, Ingle hatched a plan and enlisted the help of his associates, Rajesh Narayan Pawar and Sahadhan Gyanoba Maske, to eliminate Singh.

On April 19, Ingle invited Singh to his residence in Chinchwad, luring him under the pretext of returning the money. Singh was strangled with a rope and stabbed to death during their confrontation. The perpetrators then transported his lifeless body in a car to Tamhini Ghat, where they disposed of it.

Concerns arose when a missing person complaint was filed for Ranjit Mela Singh at Chinchwad police station. Consequently, both Chinchwad Police and Crime Branch Unit Two initiated parallel investigations. The breakthrough came when Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Mane received a tip-off about the accused’s presence in the Chikhli area.

Upon arrest, the accused, Narayan Ingle, confessed to the heinous crime, leading to the apprehension of Rajesh Narayan Pawar and Sahadhan Gyanoba Maske as well. The suspects now face charges related to the murder of Ranjit Mela Singh in the ongoing investigation.
