Pune, 6th April 2023: Mahametro Manager (Operational) Vinod Agarwal announced that the construction of the Deccan and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Park metro stations on the Vanaz to Ramwadi route is progressing well, and both stations will be completed in two weeks. Mahametro Strategic Planning Manager Anil Kokate and Gautam Birare were present on this occasion.

Agarwal reported that work on the Garware College Station to Ramwadi Station route is progressing quickly, and after completing the work on the Garware College Station to Ruby Hall Clinic Station, CMRS Inspection will take place by the end of 30th April. The route includes essential stations such as Deccan, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Park, Pune Municipal Corporation, Civil Court, Mangalwar Peth, Pune Railway Station, and Ruby Hall Clinic.

The construction of Deccan and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Park stations was a challenging task as both were being built in the river bed. Due to the presence of water in the area, work was not possible until August. However, some work was initiated with the help of cranes. The actual work of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Park Metro Station began in November, and 70% of the work has been completed in eight months. The remaining work will be finished by 30th April, and both stations will soon be operational for passengers.

The Deccan and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Park stations are designed in the shape of turbans that resemble those worn by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Mavle. Designing such massive stations, measuring approximately 140 meters long, 26 meters high, and 28 meters wide, was a challenging task. Aluminum and gallium were used to construct the turban, making this type of replication a first-of-its-kind initiative.
