Pune: Deccan Police Arrest Two Chain Snatchers Who Targeted Elderly Woman on Prabhat Road

Deccan, 15th October 2025: The Deccan Police have arrested two men for snatching the mangalsutra of a 64-year-old woman walking on Prabhat Road. The police have recovered the stolen mangalsutra and the two-wheeler used in the crime.

The arrested accused have been identified as Zulfikar Waheed Shah (40), a resident of Kharadi, and Naseem Yamin Ansari (42), a resident of Kondhwa. An elderly woman had lodged a complaint in this regard at the Deccan Police Station.

According to police, the incident took place on October 12, when the complainant was walking through Lane No. 14, Prabhat Road. At that time, the accused duo riding a two-wheeler snatched her mangalsutra and fled the spot.

Upon receiving information, the Deccan Police immediately launched an investigation and began scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area. The footage helped police trace the accused to the Kondhwa area.

A team then laid a trap and successfully arrested both Shah and Ansari.
The police have seized the stolen mangalsutra and the two-wheeler used in the crime. Investigators are now probing whether the duo were involved in other similar offences targeting women.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, DCP (Zone 1) Hrishikesh Rawale, and ACP Sainath Thombre.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar, Crime Branch Inspector Prasad Raut, Sub-Inspector Ajitkumar Patil, and police personnel Ajay Bhosale, Dattatray Shinde, Rajendra Marne, Dhanashree Supekar, Sagar Ghadge, Sanjay Dandagule, Santosh Sagar, and Ganesh Satav.
