Pune: Deccan Police Arrest Two Thieves After Robbing College Girl at Hanuman Tekdi

Deccan, 8th January 2025: Deccan Police have arrested two thieves who threatened a college girl with a koyta and stole her gold chain at Pune’s Hanuman Tekdi. The accused, identified as Swapnil Shivaji Dombe (32, resident of Parvati) and Aniket Anil Swami (21, resident of Sinhagad Road), are notorious criminals with previous robbery cases registered against them at Deccan and Sinhagad Road Police Stations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill revealed at a press conference that the investigation uncovered four robberies committed by the duo in the Hanuman Tekdi area over the past few months. The recent incident, in which a college girl was with a friend when threatened and robbed, led to their arrest.

The Deccan Police team tracked the thieves using CCTV footage and technical investigation. The accused had fled on a two-wheeler without a license plate after committing the crime. A sticker on the vehicle, spotted at the Pandav Nagar Police Chowki, ultimately led to their capture.

In a separate but related incident, the police also apprehended another thief, Monty alias Tejas Kharade (resident of Parvati), who was preparing to rob with a sickle on Hanuman Hill. Kharade is a habitual offender with cases registered against him at Sinhagad Road, Deccan, and Dattawadi Police Stations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sainath Thombare guided the team, which was led by Senior Police Inspector Girisha Nimbalkar, Police Inspector (Crime) Prasad Raut, Police Sub-Inspectors Mahesh Bhosale, Ajay Bhosale, Dattatraya Sawant, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Rajendra Marne, and Police Constables Dattatraya Shinde, Dhanashri Supekar, Gabhale, Sagar Ghadage, Wasim Siddiqui, Rohit Pathrut, Dhanaji Mali, and Mahesh Shirsath.
