Pune, 9th April 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) long-pending plan to build a multispecialty hospital in Warje has finally received a green signal. The Ministry of Defence has issued the crucial ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC), removing the key hurdle that had delayed the project for over a year.

The proposed hospital site is located within a sensitive defence area, making official clearance from the Ministry essential. The lack of this approval had stalled construction despite the foundation stone being laid last year in the presence of then-Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale personally led efforts to obtain the NOC, coordinating with agencies including the National Defence Academy (NDA), IAF’s Lohgaon Airbase, and central authorities in Delhi.

The upcoming multispecialty facility is expected to focus on cancer treatment as well as maternal and child healthcare. It will be open to all citizens, with 20% of its beds reserved for economically weaker sections. Treatment under various government health schemes will also be available.

The project is being funded through foreign investment from a semi-government Dutch agency, and is targeted for completion by 2027. With the major defence-related clearance now secured, construction is set to proceed without further administrative obstacles.
