Pune: Delivery Agent Booked for Swapping Flipkart Parcels with Fakes Worth Rs 3.75 Lakh

Hinjawadi, 21st April 2025: A delivery executive employed by an e-commerce company Flipkart has been booked by Pimpri Chinchwad police for allegedly swapping high-value products with counterfeit items and returning the fake parcels as customer returns, causing a loss of ₹3.75 lakh to the firm.
The fraud reportedly took place in November 2023, but came to light only after an internal audit flagged discrepancies in returned shipments.
According to the complaint filed by a company representative, the delivery agent, Pawan Pralhad Lokhand, a native of Buldhana district, had been entrusted with 11 parcels between November 6 and 14 last year. He later brought them back to the warehouse in Marunji near Hinjawadi, claiming the customers had rejected the deliveries.
“Upon inspection, it was found that all 11 parcels contained duplicate items instead of the original branded products,” said a Hinjawadi police officer. “This raised immediate suspicion, and an internal inquiry was launched by the company.”
Officials said that during questioning, the suspect admitted to exchanging the original contents and replacing them with counterfeit versions. “He was given an opportunity by the company to repay the amount, but failed to do so,” the officer added.
The police have registered a case against the delivery agent under Section 316(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to criminal breach of trust by an employee.
“Our investigation is ongoing. We are verifying whether the accused acted alone or if others were involved,” the officer said.
Company officials have also initiated a parallel internal probe to check for similar incidents involving other delivery personnel.
