Pune: Delivery Rider’s Livelihood Destroyed as Drunk Driver Plows Into Parked Scooter

Kondhwa, 17th March 2025: A reckless incident unfolded near RIMS School on NIBM Road in Kondhwa at around 4 a.m., when a drunk driver lost control of his car, crashed into a divider, and rammed into a parked Suzuki Burgman scooter belonging to a delivery rider.

Social media influencer Rahil Mohammed tweeted, “With such incidents on the rise in Pune, citizens are urging the Pune Police to take strict action against drunk driving to ensure road safety.” He also shared the videos of the incident.

The impact completely destroyed the two-wheeler along with all the delivery items before the driver fled the scene. The delivery rider, who had stepped away for a brief moment, was left shocked and devastated as his only source of livelihood was reduced to rubble in an instant.

Eyewitnesses stated that the speeding car swerved dangerously before smashing into the divider and hitting the parked scooter. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the crash.

Residents of the area have raised serious concerns over the increasing number of reckless driving incidents, particularly during late-night hours. Many have urged Pune Police to tighten enforcement measures, increase patrolling, and impose stricter penalties for drunk driving to prevent further mishaps.

With road accidents linked to intoxicated driving becoming alarmingly frequent, citizens are calling for immediate action to enhance safety for both commuters and pedestrians.
