Pune, 25th November 2025: The Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Deputy Education Inspector red-handed today while accepting a bribe of ₹1,00,000. The Class-2 officer, posted at the Office of the Deputy Director of Education, Pune, had demanded the money to sanction a ‘Shalarth ID’ (Salary ID) for a teacher.

The accused has been identified as Raosaheb Bhagwan Mirgane (57), a resident of Greenvill Society, Hadapsar. A case has been registered against him at the Bundgarden Police Station under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to the ACB officials, the complainant is a 56-year-old man whose wife works as an assistant teacher at a secondary school in the Solapur district. However, she had been working without a salary since 2016 as she did not possess a ‘Shalarth ID’. Once approved, her salary disbursements were set to begin.

To resolve this, a proposal for her Shalarth ID was submitted to the Deputy Director of Education’s office in Pune on June 16, 2025. The accused, Mirgane, demanded a bribe of ₹1 lakh from the complainant to approve the proposal via the ‘E-Office’ system and forward it to the Deputy Director.

The complainant approached the ACB, Pune, on November 17, 2025, to report the demand. The ACB officials verified the complaint on November 17 and November 21, confirming that Mirgane had indeed demanded ₹1 lakh and agreed to accept the amount.

On Tuesday, November 25, a trap was laid at the Office of the Deputy Director of Education. At approximately 6:21 PM, Mirgane was caught red-handed in his cabin while accepting the bribe amount of ₹1 lakh from the complainant in the presence of witnesses.

The action was executed under the guidance of SP (ACB) Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional SP Ajit Patil, and Additional SP Arjun Bhosale. The trap was led by Police Inspector Prasad Lonare, and the case is being further investigated by Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Walke.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has appealed to citizens to report any government officer or employee demanding a bribe for official work. Citizens can contact the ACB via their toll-free number 1064 or through their website and mobile app.
