Pune: Destruction in Chinchwad: Seven Vehicles Lost as Flames Engulf Plumbing Material Godown

Chinchwad, 26th February 2024: Following the recent extinguishing of the junkyard fire in Morwadi on Wednesday, another significant fire incident occurred in Chinchwad on Sunday morning. This time, a plumbing material godown was engulfed in flames, resulting in the destruction of seven vehicles, including a JCB. The fire caused inconvenience for citizens travelling on the road from Chinchwad Gaon to Kalewadi.

The incident took place at a roadside warehouse located in Keshav Nagar, near the bridge over the Pavana River connecting Chinchwad and MM Chowk in Kalewadi. The warehouse housed various plumbing supplies, and unfortunately, four bikes, one motorbike, one tempo, and one JCB parked outside were all consumed by the fire.

The fire not only engulfed the plumbing material godown but also consumed the attached office and all the materials within. Adjacent to the affected area was some letter shed shops, nurseries, mathematics tutorial centres, and soft drink shops along the road. The fire erupted at around nine in the morning.

The intensity of the flames quickly escalated, taking on a fierce appearance. In response, prompt action was taken as a bomb and five personnel from the authority sub-centre of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Brigade swiftly rushed to the scene upon receiving the news of the fire. Recognizing the severity of the situation, additional vehicles and officers were summoned, enabling them to bring the fire under control.
