Pune, 11th November 2024: Sunil Tingre, the Mahayuti candidate for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, assured Yerawada residents that significant funds have been allocated for the area’s development, which will enhance its infrastructure and overall image. Speaking to citizens during a campaign tour on Sunday, Tingre highlighted key projects that promise to reshape Yerawada’s future, making it a more prominent part of Maharashtra.

Tingre mentioned several planned initiatives aimed at improving basic amenities, traffic management, and public services in the area. Among the notable developments are a new central government building, a well-equipped psychiatric hospital, and the long-awaited metro station. These projects are expected to elevate Yerawada’s importance, both within Pune and across the state.

“We are committed to transforming Yerawada, and these initiatives will change its image in the public’s mind,” Tingre stated. He emphasized that the metro station, which had been delayed, will soon be operational, and he’s working closely with metro management and municipal authorities to ensure progress.

Another critical project that Tingre discussed was the construction of a modern vegetable market and trading complex in Yerawada. Addressing the ongoing traffic congestion caused by the informal vegetable market, Tingre assured residents that a designated space will soon be created for vendors, along with infrastructure to ease the traffic burden. “Around ₹10 crore has been allocated for this project, which will significantly reduce congestion and improve the overall flow of traffic in the area,” he said.

The new market complex will span 2,507 square meters and will include facilities such as two-wheeler and four-wheeler parking lots, a lift for heavy goods, and two separate spinning rooms to accommodate women with children while shopping. The development aims to provide rightful spaces for small traders and vendors, benefiting hundreds of families by creating employment opportunities.

Tingre also highlighted plans to address the area’s traffic problems. A flyover has already been constructed at Golf Chowk to ease congestion coming from the airport, and future plans include a grade separator and flyovers at Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk and Shastrinagar Chowk. Funding for these projects has already been secured, and Tingre assured citizens that traffic congestion in Yerawada will soon be alleviated.

Further addressing the traffic situation, Tingre mentioned the removal of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system on city roads, which has already improved traffic flow. He reaffirmed that with the completion of the flyovers and grade separators, Yerawada will see a permanent resolution to its traffic issues.

The rally saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, along with a strong presence of Mahayuti party workers and functionaries. The citizens of Yerawada expressed optimism about the proposed developments and their potential to transform the area into a modern, well-equipped hub.
