Pune: Dilip Walse Patil Wins Ambegaon By Narrow 1,661 Votes, Overcoming Multiple Challenges
Ambegaon, 23rd November 2024: From the Ambegaon constituency, Maharashtra’s Minister of Cooperation, Dilip Walse Patil, secured a narrow victory against Nationalist Congress Party – Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) candidate Devdatta Nikam. Walse Patil had to overcome significant challenges, including anti-incumbency sentiments and a sympathy wave for veteran leader Sharad Pawar in the rural parts of Pune district, all of which seemed to work against him. Additionally, Walse Patil had suffered a spinal injury months earlier, which affected his campaign during the recovery period.
Despite aggressive campaigning from Nikam, which saw the involvement of Dr. Amol Kolhe, Walse Patil managed to maintain a narrow lead. Ambegaon had a high voter turnout of 79.01% out of 3.09 lakh registered voters, making the outcome difficult to predict. While Walse Patil trailed behind Nikam in the initial rounds, he made a strong comeback and ultimately held onto a slim lead of 1661 votes.
