Pune: Discharge From Nira Deoghar Dam Increased To 1,340 Cusecs

Pune 21st August 2023: Despite low rainfall in the district in last few days, Nira Devghar Dam has been filled upto 100% of its capacity and the officials have started discharging water into river from the dam. According to the officials, 1,340 cusecs of water discharge was started from the dam including 5,90 cusecs from dam storage and 750 cusecs from the power plant at the dam.

The irrigation department officials have also appealed to the citizens to not enter inside the river basin and remove their belongings and animals from the river. Further increase or reduction in the discharge will be decided based on the rainfall in the catchment area, said officials.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain for the Pune district till August 24. The district has not received good rainfall for the last two weeks due to which the dams that supply water to Pune have less storage compared to last year.
