Pune, December 24, 2020: If you are planning to celebrate new year’s eve at a farmhouse on the outskirts of Pune due to the night curfew implemented in the city, then pause for a minute, you may consider rethinking your plan. Anticipating that the city crowd could get diverted to the rural side on December 31 post the new night curfew declared in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city, the district administration is mulling to propose curfew across the district.

District collector Rajesh Deshmukh has stated that considering the possibility of congestion in the rural areas of Pune district, a proposal to impose a curfew in the district will be sent to the Maharashtra government. This new decision could quash the plans for new year’s eve for many who are planning to spend it on the outskirts. The officials from the revenue and police department along with Deshmukh and Superintendent of Police Abhinav Deshmukh had held a meeting to discuss important steps required to be taken in this regard.

Deshmukh said, “citizens are likely to go to the rural areas of the district as curfew has been imposed within the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad civic administration’s jurisdiction. The Superintendent of Police has been instructed to review the matter and prepare a proposal. The proposal will be sent to the state government for approval. After the state government approves it, a curfew will be imposed in Pune rural from 11 pm to 6 am.”
