Pune: District Administration Extends Ban On Heavy Vehicles Into City Limits Untill Further Orders Amid Monsoon
Pune, 20th July 2026: The district administration has extended the ban on the entry of heavy and goods vehicles into the Pune city police commissionerate limits until further orders to ease traffic congestion during the monsoon. The restrictions, which have been in force since July 9, are aimed at preventing traffic snarls caused by heavy vehicles getting stranded or breaking down on rain-soaked roads.
District Collector Jitendra Dudi issued the order, directing transporters to use designated alternative routes while travelling through the city.
According to the order, vehicles travelling from Solapur towards Mumbai should take the Kedgaon–Chauphula–Nhavare–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Shikrapur–Chakan route or travel via Uruli Kanchan–Koregaon Mul–Ashtapur–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Shikrapur–Chakan.
Vehicles travelling from Mumbai to Solapur have been directed to use either the Talegaon Dabhade–Chakan–Shikrapur–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Nhavare–Kedgaon–Chauphula–Solapur Highway route or the Talegaon Dabhade–Chakan–Shikrapur–Talegaon Dhamdhere–Ashtapur–Koregaon Mul–Uruli Kanchan route. They may also use the Katraj–Mantarwadi Phata–Vadki–Dive Ghat–Saswad–Jejuri–Morgaon–Supe–Kedgaon Chauphula route.
Vehicles travelling from Mumbai to Ahilyanagar have been advised to use the Talegaon–Chakan–Khed–Manchar–Narayangaon–Alephata–Ahilyanagar route, while those travelling from Ahilyanagar to Mumbai should use the Shikrapur–Chakan–Talegaon route.
Heavy vehicles travelling from Saswad to Solapur have been directed to use the Saswad–Jejuri–Morgaon–Supe–Kedgaon–Chauphula route.
The administration has also specified routes for goods vehicles entering Pune city for loading and unloading operations. Such vehicles will be allowed to operate only between 11 pm and 6 am.
Vehicles entering Pune from Ahilyanagar should travel via Nagar Road–Wagholi–Kharadi Bypass–Shastrinagar Chowk–Golf Club Chowk–Alandi Road Junction–Chandrama Chowk–Poultry Chowk–Harris Bridge before proceeding to their destinations.
Goods vehicles arriving from Solapur have been directed to use the Magarpatta–Bhaironala–Lullanagar Chowk–Gangadham Chowk–Market Yard route.
Vehicles coming from Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur should enter the city via the Bengaluru Highway–Navale Bridge–Katraj Chowk–Market Yard route, while those arriving from Mumbai and Nashik should use the Harris Bridge–Bopodi–Chandrama Chowk–Golf Club Chowk–Market Yard route.
The district administration has appealed to transporters and drivers to strictly adhere to the prescribed diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise congestion during the monsoon.
