Pune District Approves Rs 2,052 Crore Development Plan for 2025-26
Pune, 1st February 2025: The Pune District Planning Committee has approved a comprehensive development plan totalling ₹2,052 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. The plan, which received approval on Thursday, includes a draft allocation of ₹1,299.58 crore for the district annual plan, Scheduled Caste sub-plan, and Tribal sub-plan, along with an additional ₹753 crore for extra demands.
The approved plan prioritizes the establishment of model schools and smart primary health centres across the district. Each taluka will see the development of one large school at the central school level, with plans to create 303 model schools annually. The committee has also emphasized the importance of upgrading and repairing primary health centres, ensuring prompt medical treatments.
Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, who chaired the meeting, suggested the creation of an integrated tourism development plan considering the district’s historical sites, religious places, forts, and monuments. He assured that funds would be allocated through the District Planning Committee and urged efforts to secure additional funding from corporate social responsibility initiatives and the state tourism department.
The plan includes significant allocations across various sectors:
– Social and Community Services: ₹390 crore
– Transport: ₹185 crore
– Rural Development: ₹175 crore
– Energy Development: ₹85 crore
– Agriculture and Allied Services: ₹71.20 crore
– Industry and Mining: ₹77.76 crore
– Irrigation and Flood Control: ₹23.26 crore
– General Services: ₹29 crore
– Innovative Schemes: ₹55 crore
Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil addressed the issue of scholarships for Scheduled Caste and Tribe students, stating that follow-ups are being made with the central government to resolve challenges faced by educational institutions. He also mentioned the successful implementation of 100% scholarships for girls pursuing professional higher education at the state level.
The meeting was attended by various ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials from different departments, highlighting the collaborative effort in formulating this comprehensive development plan for the Pune district.
