Pune, September 11, 2020: For the last five months, the district court was working with limited staff for urgent cases only. From Monday (Sept 14) the functioning of the court will be started by 100 percent. This will speed up the court proceedings.

The hearing of important cases was taking place in the presence of 15 percent judges and staff. It has increased by another 15 percent since last Monday. However, the workload has increased as 70 per cent cases hearings are left due to the pre-existing workload and coronavirus infection. Against this backdrop, the Bombay High Court has directed all judges in the district to start the work.

All senior court staff and 30 percent of junior staff have been instructed to be present. Although the proceedings will be held in the presence of 100 percent judges, only important cases will be heard. The hearing will be held from 11 am to 2 pm. Therefore, lawyers should come to court only if they have important work, informed Adv Satish Mulik, president of Pune Bar Association (PBA).
