Chakan, February 18, 2021: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has decided to provide plots at 10 places for setting up Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) hospitals to provide health facilities to the workers in the industrial estates. An ESI hospital will be set up in the Chakan industrial area in Pune district.

The work of providing health services to the workers in the industrial sector should be done through the hospitals of ESI. A decision has been taken to provide plots in the industrial area as per the demand for setting up a hospital. These include Chakan, Sinnar, Taloja, Palghar, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Raigad, Roha, Satara and Panvel. This decision will eliminate the need for workers to take leave or unpaid leave.

There are industrial estates at Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon in Pune district. ESI facility is provided by the management under social security to the workers working here. ESI has a well-equipped hospital at Chinchwad, Mohannagar in Pune district. However, there is no treatment facility for serious diseases.

The hospital at Bibwewadi has only an inpatient department, which has been given the status of a super speciality hospital but has not been implemented. ESI has provided dispensary services to workers in Nagar Road, Hadapsar and Bhosari.

About one lakh workers and their families working in the industrial estates are covered by the State Insurance Employees Scheme. However, there is a constant cry of not getting quality medical facilities from ESI. When a worker goes to a hospital in Mohannagar for medical treatment, he is examined and referred to YCM Hospital in Pimpri or Sassoon hospital in Pune for further treatment.
