Pune District Vigilance Committee Reviews Atrocity Act Cases in Key Meeting

Pune, 13th June 2025: The Pune District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee convened to review cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989. The meeting, chaired online by District Collector and Committee Chairman Jitendra Dudi, was held at the Pune District Collector Office.

During the session, officials assessed the status of cases filed under the Atrocity Act. Departments were instructed to promptly process and submit required documents for pending financial assistance cases to the Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare Office. Police authorities were directed to immediately report any newly registered atrocity cases to both the Assistant Commissioner, Social Welfare, Pune, and the Civil Rights Protection Branch, as well as to pursue caste certificates for affected individuals.

The committee also recommended organizing awareness workshops on the Atrocity Act in observance of Social Justice Day. The review was conducted by Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare, Vishal Londhe, with participation from Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Mulik (Pune), Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Shinde (Pune Rural), Assistant Commissioner of Police Dr Vishal Hire (Pimpri-Chinchwad Police), and non-official committee members Sadhu Ballal and Santosh Kamble.
