Pune Division Collects Fine Rs 2.14 Crore From 26,374 Offenders in March, Passengers Also Fined For Carrying Extra Luggage
Pune, 2nd April 2024: In a sweeping crackdown on fare evasion, Pune Division of the Central Railway administered a stringent ticket checking operation throughout March 2024. The result: a staggering 26,374 passengers were apprehended for traveling without valid tickets, amassing fines totaling Rs. 2.14 crore.
Additionally, 8,546 passengers were penalized with fines amounting to Rs. 51.67 lakhs for irregular travel and failure to produce proper tickets. Moreover, 233 individuals carrying un-booked luggage were slapped with fines amounting to Rs. 34,020.
This enforcement initiative was meticulously executed under the leadership of Divisional Railway Manager, Indu Dubey, and in close coordination with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Dr. Milind Hirve. Collaborating seamlessly with ticket checking inspectors and the Railway Protection Force, the operation underscored the railway administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring fare compliance and passenger safety.
With ticket checks being conducted with regularity, passengers are urged to adhere strictly to ticketing regulations. Non-compliance not only results in fines under the Railway Act but may also entail legal repercussions, including imprisonment.
