Central Railway Reward 9 Employees for Ensuring Passenger Safety, Including 2 from Pune Division

Pune, 2nd April 2024: Recognizing exemplary dedication to safety, Central Railway honored 9 of its staff members at a ceremony held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on April 2, 2024.

In Mumbai Division, Vinod Santosh Sapkale, a Helper at CSMT, detected a potentially hazardous situation during a train check, preventing a mishap. Similarly, Shahid Ansari, a Junior Engineer at Kalyan Loco Shed, identified a critical crack in a locomotive, averting possible failures.

From Nagpur Division, Vivek Gajbhiye, Deputy Station Manager, and Saheb Hussain, Deputy Station Manager, demonstrated swift action upon spotting hot axles in separate incidents, ensuring train safety.

In Pune Division, Rohit Pohekar, a Senior Section Engineer, rectified air spring leakage in a train, ensuring both safety and punctuality. Meanwhile, Santosh Bhikaji, a Gateman at Malavli, prevented a potential disaster by alerting authorities to sparking pantographs on an EMU local train.

In Solapur Division, Vijay Kumar Ram, a Track Maintainer at Daund, and Jayprakash, Deputy Station Manager at Bigwan, intervened effectively to address hot axle incidents, preventing possible accidents.

Lastly, from Bhusawal Division, Ganesh Gadge, a Pointsman at Nashik Road station, exhibited quick thinking by identifying and addressing a fire in a train’s luggage compartment, preventing a serious accident.

The General Manager commended the awardees for their vigilance and dedication, emphasizing the importance of such acts in ensuring passenger safety. The event was attended by several railway officials, including the Additional General Manager and Principal Chief Officers.
