Pune: DJ-Free Eid-e-Milad Celebration Planned On 21st September
Pune, 19th September 2024: Eid-e-Milad 2024 was on 16th September. However, due to Ganesh Visarjan falling on 17th September, the procession had been postponed by mutual agreement. The Eid-e-Milad 2024 procession will now take place on 21st September, according to the Seerat Committee. Additionally, the procession will proceed without DJ music.
Eid-e-Milad marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. Following a joint meeting involving the Pune City Commissioner of Police, Joint Commissioner of Police, and other officials from Pune Police Administration, the Seerat Committee, and social organizations, the decision to hold the procession without DJ was announced at a press conference. The Pune Police have praised this decision, noting that DJ playing, drumming, singing, and laser lighting are not acceptable practices in Islam for celebrating Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary. More than 200 mosque imams supported the Seerat Committee’s decision and encouraged local people of the community to celebrate in a traditional and peaceful manner.
The Seerat Committee has also appealed to around 137 organizations to join in the traditional celebration. This year’s DJ-free procession aims to send a message of an ideal Muslim society. Despite some opposition, the police have emphasized that no permissions will be granted for DJs this year, respecting the decision of the entire Muslim community and religious leaders.
The procession will start at 8 AM from Mannu Shah Masjid in Nana Peth and will proceed through AD Camp Chowk, Nishat Theater, Bhagwandas Chawl, Mukti Fauj Chowk, Chhatrapati Shivaji Market, Central Street, Jamatul Qureshi Masjid, Mahaveer Chowk, Sachapir Street, Quarter Gate Chowk, Laxmi Road, Sant Kabir Chowk, and end at Hamje Khan Chowk in Ganesh Peth. It will then continue towards Ranka Jewelers, Bagban Masjid, Hazrat Subhan Shah Dargah Chowk, and Jama Masjid, where the Chairman of the Seerat Committee, Maulana Gulam Ahmed Khan Kadari, along with other members and mosque imams, will be present. The procession is expected to conclude by 2 PM.
