Baramati, 19th July 2025: A 52-year-old chief manager posted at the Bank of Baroda’s Baramati branch was found dead inside his office cabin on Thursday night. Police said he was discovered hanging from a ceiling hook, and a note found in his pocket cited severe work-related stress as the reason behind his drastic step.

Senior Inspector Vishal Nale of Baramati City Police said that an accidental death report has been filed, and preliminary investigations suggest the man died by suicide. “We recovered a handwritten note from his trousers. It indicated that high work pressure had taken a toll on him,” he said.

Hailing from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the deceased manager is survived by his wife and daughter. He had reportedly applied for voluntary retirement just days before the incident.

According to the police, the manager had gone about his regular work schedule on Thursday. “He stayed back at the bank even after other employees had left,” Inspector Nale said. “When the peon approached him to ask if he should lock up, the manager told him to go home as he had some pending work.”

Later that evening, when he failed to return home and did not respond to repeated calls from his wife, she grew concerned and contacted the bank staff and the peon. “The peon returned to the branch and found the main doors open. When he checked the manager’s cabin, he was shocked to find him hanging,” Nale added.

The police were immediately informed and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.

The note left behind appealed to the bank’s management to reduce pressure on employees. “He wrote that every employee knows their responsibilities and is giving their best. He asked the bank not to burden staff unnecessarily,” Nale said. The note also included a heartfelt apology to his wife and daughter and a request to donate his eyes.

“There was no mention of any individual being responsible for the act,” the senior officer added. “While the case has been registered as an unnatural death, further investigation is underway.”
