Pune: Door-To-Door Surveys Underway To Update Chinchwad’s Voter Records
Chinchwad, 9th September 2023: At the direction of the Election Commission, door-to-door surveys are being carried out by polling station-level officials in the Chinchwad Assembly constituency, the largest in terms of population. Out of the 579,000 registered voters, the survey has covered 365,000 voters to date.
The survey is identifying migrated and deceased voters, and their names will be excluded from the records. A time-bound strategy has been devised to enhance the efficiency of the electoral process. This plan includes tasks such as verifying, authenticating, and rectifying duplicate polling stations, addressing issues of multiple entries, eliminating errors, adhering to the commission’s photographic standards for voter identification, modifying sections or precincts as necessary, and restructuring polling station boundaries.
In the Chinchwad constituency, work is progressing rapidly and diligently. There are a total of 510 polling booths, and some of them are currently situated on the first floor. Following an Election Commission directive to relocate these stations to ground level, a comprehensive reorganization of polling stations is underway. To facilitate this process, a meeting will be convened with representatives from various political parties.
Around 10 lakh messages (SMS) have been sent to the citizens of Chinchwad, Pimpri, and Bhosari assembly constituencies for the inclusion of new names in the electoral roll, correction of names, and addition of Aadhaar cards.
Assistant Voter Registration Officer Amol Kadam has appealed to the citizens to use the Voter Helpline of the Central Election Commission to cooperate in cleaning and updating the voter list.
