Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Pune, 7th November 2026: The development plan (DP) for nine villages merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits in 2017 has moved closer to final approval, with the civic body’s Town Planning Department proposing 143 modifications after considering suggestions and objections raised by citizens and public representatives.
The revised modifications to the draft Development Plan have been published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette under Section 28(4) of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966. The changes cover Lohgaon, Mundhwa-Keshavnagar, Hadapsar (Sadesatra Nali), Undri, Ambegaon Budruk, Ambegaon Khurd, Dhayari, Shivane and Uttamnagar.
The revised plan has been prepared after examining 7,590 suggestions and objections received following the publication of the draft DP under Section 26 of the MRTP Act in October 2025.
A planning committee comprising government-appointed expert members conducted public hearings between March and April 2026 and submitted its report in July 2026. According to the information released by the civic administration, approximately 70 to 75 per cent of the suggestions and objections were considered positively, resulting in 143 proposed modifications.
Of the total changes, 84, accounting for around 59 per cent, relate to the road network. These modifications are aimed at improving road connectivity and ensuring a more practical road layout to address future traffic requirements.
The revised plan also includes 28 changes (20 per cent) to public reservations and 30 changes (21 per cent) to amenity spaces. These modifications have been made to align the proposed reservations and facilities with ground realities and existing structures.
Among the nine villages, Lohgaon accounts for the highest number of proposed modifications, with 31 changes, representing approximately 22 per cent of the total. Dhayari and Undri are among the other areas with significant modifications, while Ambegaon Khurd has the lowest number, accounting for around five per cent.
The list of proposed modifications and revised maps will be available for public inspection for 30 days on the PMC’s official website, www.pmc.gov.in, as well as at the Town Planning Office opposite Vidhan Bhavan and the PMC headquarters.
Following this public inspection period, the revised modifications will be forwarded to the Maharashtra Government for final approval under Section 30 of the MRTP Act.
Once the government grants its approval, the nine merged villages will receive their first officially sanctioned Development Plan, providing a planning framework for future infrastructure development, road connectivity and civic amenities in these rapidly developing areas.
