Pune: DPU Private Super Specialty Hospital Organizes Free Mammography Camp for Breast Cancer Awareness

Pimpri, 1st November 2023: In commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, DPU Private Super Specialty Hospital in Pimpri hosted Walk for Pink: Walk for a Hope, a walkathon that demonstrated the hospital’s unwavering support in the fight against one of the most pervasive cancers across the globe, and a five-day free Mammography camp.

In attendance for the walkathon were prominent doctors of DPU Private Super Specialty Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, including Dr Dakshayini Nirhale, HOD, General Surgery; Dr Yashwant Nankar, HOD, Pain Management; Dr Pankaj Kshirsagar, Consultant Oncosurgeon; Dr Reshma Puranik, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Hematooncologist; Dr Pratiksha Yadav, HOD, Interventional Radiology; and Dr Sameer Gupta, HOD, Oncosurgery, along with breast cancer patients, the hospital’s dedicated staff, and medical students, all wearing a pink ribbon as a symbolic representation of their commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer. Overall, the walkathon witnessed over 500 participants.

In addition to the above activities, the hospital also organized both virtual and in-person informational sessions on social media, both within the hospital premises and with corporations. During these sessions, senior medical professionals discussed various aspects and concerns about the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

A free Mammography camp was organized at the hospital between the 27th and 31st of October in 2023, catering to women aged 40 and above due to the elevated risk of breast cancer within this demographic.
