Pune: Varroc Vengsarkar Academy Triumphs Over Cricket Next Academy by 67 Runs
Chinchwad, 1st November 2023: The U14 Varroc Cup 2023, organized by PCMC’s Varroc Vengsarkar Cricket Academy, kicked off in style today at the Thergaon ground.
The tournament was officially inaugurated by Hanumant Shinde, Executive Engineer of the Sports Architecture Department at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Present at the inauguration were the academy’s coaches, including Chandan Gangawane, Shadab Sheikh, Rahul Vengsarkar, Bhushan Suryavanshi, and Dr Vijay Patil.
In a 45-over match held at the Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy ground in Thergaon, Varroc Vengsarkar Academy secured a convincing victory over Cricket Next Academy (CNA) by 67 runs. Varroc won the toss and opted to bat first.
Om Patil, representing Varroc Vengsarkar Academy, delivered an impressive performance, scoring 91 runs off 104 balls. Tarun Shrikrishnan chipped in with 47 runs off 49 balls. With contributions from Aadarsh Gavhane and others, Varroc reached a total of 245 runs, losing 6 wickets in their allotted 45 overs.
From CNA’s bowling attack, Shourya Deshmukh and Jeet Telisara managed to secure 2 wickets each, while Shourya Jadhav and Shreeyash Yeole took 1 wicket each.
In pursuit of the target of 246 runs, Shreyas Khillare played a lone hand, scoring a remarkable century with an unbeaten 105 runs off 133 balls. However, the rest of the CNA batters couldn’t contribute significantly, and they finished their 45 overs with just 178 runs, losing 4 wickets.
Varroc Vengsarkar Academy emerged victorious by a margin of 67 runs, and Om Patil was named the Man of the Match.
The next match is scheduled to be played between Aryans Cricket Academy and Deccan Gymkhana.
