Pune: Dr. Aftab (Anwar) Sheikh to Contest Elections from Shirur Lok Sabha Constituency on Behalf of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi
Pune, 17th April 2024: Dr. Aftab (Anwar) Sheikh, Principal of Poona College, is gearing up to contest the upcoming elections from the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency under the banner of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, aiming to represent the marginalized communities.
Dr. Aftab recently met with the founder of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi, Mr. Prakash Ambedkar, and is likely to secure candidacy. This announcement was made by Anwar Sheikh, the Principal of Poona College and a senior social activist, who emphasized Dr. Aftab’s impactful work in education.
Dr. Aftab’s contributions have been recognized at the national level, even receiving honors from the President during a recent event. His notable initiatives include coaching and preparing underprivileged children, typically from slums or disadvantaged backgrounds, to excel in their tenth or twelfth-grade examinations, thereby channeling them into mainstream education.
Within the Ambedkarite movement, Dr. Aftab Sheikh has significantly contributed to the city of Pune and its district. His distinct achievements in Shirur’s electoral constituency will soon be officially declared as he aligns with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s agenda.
