Pune, 26th July 2024: Union Minister of State and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol has made serious accusations, stating that the flood-like situation in Pune has arisen due to a lack of coordination between the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Water Resources Department of the Maharashtra State Government. To address the flood situation in Pune, MoS Mohol flew from Delhi to Pune at midnight yesterday. Upon arrival, he addressed the media and made these accusations.

Murlidhar Mohol said, “The Water Resources Department initially released 35,000 cusecs, then 40,000 cusecs, and in the morning, 55,000 cusecs of water from the Khadakwasla Dam. However, this information was not communicated to the PMC. All such cases will be investigated, and action will be taken against those responsible.”

He noted that such heavy rainfall has not been experienced in years. The flood situation in Pune arose only after the dam released water.

Mohol added, “After the release of 40,000 cusecs of water, there was no such flood situation. However, the release of 55,000 cusecs this morning led to chaos in Pune. Therefore, I took immediate action. This is my responsibility. I have been reviewing the situation since morning, and tomorrow I will gather more information from the Pune Collector and PMC.”
