Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th March 2024: Dr Amol Kolhe, the current MP from Shirur representing the NCP Sharad Pawar group, today acknowledged the disappointment felt by aspiring candidate Vilas Lande. Dr Kolhe recognized Lande’s discontent with the NCP’s decision to endorse the same candidate against whom Lande had contended for two decades, despite Lande’s commendable public relations and consistent leadership.

Dr Kolhe, while campaigning in Bhosari, a segment of the Shirur Lok Sabha constituency, highlighted the ongoing discussions within the NCP Ajit Pawar group regarding the selection of a candidate to challenge him. It appears that Shivajirao Adhalarao Patil, transitioning from the Shiv Sena Shinde group to the NCP, is poised to contest the Shirur Lok Sabha seat, setting the stage for a rematch between Kolhe and former MP Adhalarao Patil, reminiscent of the 2019 election.

This development has reportedly left Lande, an aspiring candidate from Ajit Pawar’s group, disheartened. Kolhe empathized with Lande’s sentiment, citing the importation of candidates by the NCP, particularly someone against whom Lande has been actively working for the past two decades.

Reflecting on his own party’s decisions, Kolhe recalled the NCP’s assurance of support during the 2019 elections, only to witness potential opposition from within the party ranks. Moreover, Kolhe criticized Lande’s detractors, questioning the suitability of Adhalarao Patil, a former three-term MP, and condemning remarks made against him, deeming them inappropriate.
