Pimpri Chinchwad, 29th March 2024: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has accomplished a significant feat by amassing Rs 910 crore in property tax collection. However, to meet the ambitious target of Rs 1000 crore, the Taxation and Tax Collection Department faces the formidable task of securing an additional Rs 90 crore within the last three days.

With the deadline looming, tax collection offices are set to extend their operational hours from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In Pimpri-Chinchwad city, property owners can avail themselves of 17 divisional offices and online payment facilities for tax transactions.

Efforts to bridge the gap include stringent measures such as property seizures, pipeline disconnections, and auctions of seized properties, aimed at recouping outstanding dues. Despite Good Friday falling on March 29, and the subsequent weekend constituting PCMC Government Holidays, tax collection offices will remain open during the extended hours to facilitate citizen convenience, as confirmed by Assistant Commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh.

The breakdown of tax payments thus far reveals a diverse array of contributors, totalling 4,92,422 individuals, including industrial, residential, non-resident, mixed, and free land property owners. Notably, online transactions have accounted for a substantial portion of the collections, amounting to Rs 513 crore 58 lakh, with cash, checks, EDC, RTGS, Demand Drafts, various applications, and NEFT contributing to the remainder.

The presence of 17 divisional offices across the city has enabled widespread tax collection efforts, with notable contributions from divisions such as Wakad, Sangvi, Chikhali, Chinchwad, Moshi, Bhosari, and Talawade. In the Talawade division alone, 8,096 property owners have collectively contributed Rs 23 crore 38 lakhs towards the tax collection endeavour.
