Pune: DRDO’s HEMRL Hosts Industry Meet on Solid Rocket Propellant Production
Pashan, 17th September 2025: High Energy Materials Research Laboratory of DRDO engaged in developing Rocket and Gun Propellants, Pyrotechnic Devices, High Explosive System and synthesis of high energy molecules. The laboratory has developed several propellant systems to ensure reliable propulsion of rocket motors of various tactical as well as strategic missiles. Prof (Dr) Prateek Kishore DS & DG (ACE) inaugurated the at HEMRL, Sutarwadi, Pune in the presence of Dr. Chandrika Kausik DS & DG (PC&SI) and Dr. A P Dash, OS & Director HEMRL. Prof (Dr) Prateek Kishore addressed Industry meet, with the focus on unlocking the horizons in production of solid rocket propellant- the very thrust which powers our missile programmes over 75 industry participants from nearly 40 industries and 25 DRDO delegates from various laboratories participated in this Industry meet.
The prime objective of the meet is to present the solid rocket propellant and associated raw materials production requirements to Industries which is likely to come-up in next 5-10 years covering all types of rocket and missiles and composite propellant to double based propellant. The industry meet is likely to lead creation/ augmentation of propellant production facility by industry partner for DRDO developed rocket motors. This production capacity has to eb augmented through private industries. The workshop provided an overview of propellant processing and infrastructure requirement to industry participants.
