Pune: Drivers Of PMPML’s Contractual E-Buses Announce Sudden Strike, Demand Salary Hike

Pune 25th August 2023: The driver working with the contractual buses of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) announced a sudden strike on Friday morning. This led to further problems as the number of buses plying on the road were reduced. However, the PMPML officials managed the crisis and ensured that the commuters face less inconvenience.

According to reports, drivers of the Travel Time Company that runs around 200 buses for PMPML on contractual buses went on strike demanding an increase in the salary. The protesters demanded PMPML officials to intervene in the matter to get them better salary from contractors. The drivers did not withdraw protest at the time this report was published.

PMPML in a press statement said “The drivers of contractual buses especially the electric buses went on strike today morning without any prior notice. The PMPML officers cancelled their holidays and returned to duty to manage the situation to ensure that the buses run as per schedule.”

The PMPML officials ensured that the commuters did not face inconvenience due to this sudden strike and it was underlined that PMPML is prepared to handle the crisis situation to ensure better service to the commuters, said officials. Meanwhile, the officials have also said that they are discussing the issue with contractors and drivers to find a solution so that the protest can be withdrawn.
