Pune, 3rd June 2023: In a major breakthrough, the Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Pune Police Crime Branch arrested a drug dealer involved in the illegal sale of bodybuilding injections. The operation, conducted in the Kondhwa area, also revealed the sale of illegal abortion pills.

The accused, identified as Mangesh Popat Narute (33 years old) and resident of Narhe, Ambegaon, was arrested during the operation. Narute owns Sangam Medical and Lab Medicines shop located in Undri, Kondhwa.

Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Squad, in collaboration with the Food and Drug Department (FDA) team, launched an investigation by posing as undercover customers. Subsequently, a raid was conducted at Narute’s medical store, leading to the seizure of eight bottles of mephentermine sulfate injections and seven packets of abortion pills.

However, the purchase details for these drugs are yet to be obtained, and a police sub-inspector has been assigned to investigate further.

The demand for quick body transformations has resulted in the illicit use of illegal injections by many individuals, particularly bodybuilders. The sale of illegal mephentermine sulfate injections, known for their potential side effects, has raised concerns about public health and safety.

The Anti-Narcotics Squad and the police are working to identify the sources of these illegal drugs and track down any accomplices involved in the distribution network.
