Pune: Drunk Driver Crashes Car into Divider After Hitting Two-Wheeler

Shivajinagar, 5th October 2025: A shocking incident unfolded near Balgandharva Rangmandir in Pune when a car driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, collided with a two-wheeler and later drove onto a divider, causing extensive damage to his vehicle.

According to the Deccan Police, the driver has been identified as Aniket Ramakant Sontakke (25), a resident of Chakan, Dharashiv, who had come to Pune for education. The incident occurred around 7 pm near Vitthal Ramji Shinde Bridge (between Omkareshwar temple and Balgandharva Rangmandir) during the evening rush hour.

Police reports indicate that Sontakke, driving at high speed, first hit a two-wheeler near Balgandharva Rangmandir. The rider sustained minor injuries but refused to file a complaint, stating that he had not suffered any significant damage. Moments later, the driver drove his car onto a divider, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that Sontakke does not hold a valid driving license. A case of drunk driving has been registered against him at Deccan Police Station, and the police are continuing their investigation.
